Global Marine Systems Limited (GMSL) wins a contract worth of US$12 million from Moratelindo to connect Singapore and Batam with terrestrial and submarine fiber optic cable.
The project Moratelindo International Cable system (MIC1) consist of 70km repeaterless cable system, connecting downtown Batam to downtown Singapore. MIC1 has minimum capacity of 10Gbits (STM-64) and accommodates Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM).
GMSL wins this contract over Asean Cableship dan NSW –both have been operating in Indonesia. With this contract, GMSL adds one more company in their customer’s list.
GSML has been doing projects with big telcos such as Indosat, Telkom and Excelcom while Moratelindo the first client from backbone operator.
Moratel partners with ViewQwest to operate and market the cable system in Singapore. The work has already begun as the cable system is scheduled to be operational in Q1 2008.
More than half of the project schedule will be spent on license and crossing agreements, including agreement with Conoco-Philips.
GMSL will utilize its Networker –a vessel specially designed for South East Asia waters, and Injector -technology to embed deep-sea cables and pipes efficiently.
