Zend PHP has landed!
The timing couldn’t be more perfect as Indonesia experienced the second surge of dotcom industry that will surely fuel up demand for enterprise class PHP services and solutions.
In early October 2007 Zend had appointed PT Rynet Cipta Teknologi as reseller for Indonesia, part of its distribution network of 27 resellers in 23 countries. It is most likely Rynet will also serve Asean market as there are only two resellers for the region. But I think Rynet also has good chance in Malay spoken countries than the other Thailand-based reseller.
Of course Rynet first have to focus on local market. There has been significant demand of enterprise class PHP solutions in Indonesia since version 3 was introduced a few years ago. Enterprises -realizing the capability of PHP mainly for web applications- had been sending their developers to PHP courses but most of them are still in doubt, citing lack of professional support. They ended up most using Java instead; PHP was only a “toy” for IT department.
Enterprise has always been huge market, but for PHP, the momentum in Indonesia will derive from the dotcom surge after the 2000 crash. Unlike enterprises, dotcom companies don’t need to think twice to adopt PHP as their business-enabler. As long as it works and it could make money, its fine. No need to worry about support as there are abundant resources out there to ask for help. For dotcom companies, PHP lower the barrier to entry.
With Zend in the country -though it’s still represented by a reseller, it will wipe away any doubts in enterprise. Moreover IT giants like IBM and Oracle in Indonesia will likely promote PHP support in the following months. IBM will show how PHP works in i-System while Oracle has been a strong promoter for PHP. We know that in no time PHP will also work perfectly with SAP’s ABAP and Microsoft’s ASP. As for dotcom companies, time will come when they need best support, mission-critical PHP as competition is heating up -as it’s already is.
Who is Rynet?
As for Rynet as a group of companies, being appointed as reseller, enables them to bring PHP to enterprise customers with solid assurance. Rynet has been counting on PHP since starting the business as web design company in 1999. From web design, in 2003 the company expands to IT solutions provider and application service provider, still with PHP as their main ingredient for building client’s applications.
After the Zend appointment, Rynet undergo a major restructuring that separates its Zend reseller business with other IT solutions, to give more focus on both field. At the helm of Rynet is Rama Yurindra, a young entrepreneur with a passion in PHP. He told me one day that being part of Zend would be a “dream come true.”
