Komatsu will invest US$ 100 million

PT Komatsu Indonesia (the Company) manufactures construction and mining equipment under the global trademark of Komatsu, plans to invest US$100 million over the next three years for expansion and research.  

Vice president of Komatsu, Nokiaki Tomimuro said that the additional investment was needed to expand production and strengthen its research activities.  

For information, the product line of Komatsu are includes hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, off-highway dump trucks as well as frames and related components and steel cast products. 

The company, which was established in 1982, produced 1,708 heavy equipment units in 2006. Excavators and bulldozers account for 60 percent of the company’s total production. While, national heavy equipment sales are expected to reach 6,000 units this year (2007).  

Komatsu operates foundry, fabrication and assembly plants on 18.2 hectares of land in Cakung, North Jakarta, and employs 1,400 workers (www.thejakartapost.com)
