Again, PLN signed loan agreement to realize 10.000MW project

State Electricity Company or PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) was signed agreements to financing their 10,000 megawatts project.  

To complete the construction of 35 coal-fired powerplants, PLN needed US$ 4.4 billion of dollar loans and Rp. 17.5 trillion or equivalent with US$ 1.9 billion in local currency. 

 

PLN secured loans from China Exim Bank in January, a consortium of local banks in April and the Bank of China in May 2008.  

To realize the construction of 13 from the 35 power plants will be build, PLN also was signed memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with four local banks.  

There are consist of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), in cooperation with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), channeled a dollar denominated loan worth Rp 2.74 trillion for the construction of a 315 megawatt plant in Banten.  

The others are Bank Mega channeled a rupiah denominated loan worth Rp. 4.61 trillion for the development of 10 power plants, while Bukopin channeled Rp. 2.65 trillion for two power plants (www.thejakartapost.com). 

The government is continuing to implement its 10,000 MW crash program, an aggressive infrastructure development which is expected to provide Indonesia with additional power supply from 35 new coal-fired power plants. Most of the projects are scheduled to come online in 2009 and 2010.
