Net profit first half report of Sampoerna was fell 5.3%

One of the big company at cigarette business in Indonesia, PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk. (PT HM Sampoerna Tbk.), was announced their net profit in the first half of 2008.
For the first half of their financial report (June 30, 2008), net profit of Sampoerna was fell 5.3% from Rp. 2.075 trillion in the first half of 2007 become to Rp. 1.965 trillion in the same period, first half of 2008 (www.antara.co.id).
The decreasing of net profit caused by a rising of operating expenses from Rp. 1.307 trillion for the first half of 2007 become to Rp. 1.619 trillion (first half of 2008). Consequently, the operating profit also was fell from Rp. 3.065 trillion (report on June 30, 2007) become to Rp. 3.057 trillion (report on June 30, 2008).
Although the net sales was reached 15.6% increase, from Rp. 14.440 trillion (report on June 30, 2007) become to Rp. 16.697 trillion in the same period, first half of 2008, but the sales expenses was increase too, from Rp. 10.067 trillion (report on June 30, 2007) become to Rp. 12.020 trillion (report on June 30, 2008).
Sampoerna is an Indonesian tobacco company whose cigarette brands are smoked by millions of Indonesians. It is reportedly the largest Indonesian tobacco company, ahead of Gudang Garam and Djarum (www.sampoerna.com).
