ICT needed to realize the creative economy

Speech on Indonesian Information and Communication Technology Award (INAICTA) 2008 conference (August, 08th 2008) at Jakarta Convention Center, Trade Minister, Mari Elka Pangestu speak about the creative economy

The government was concern regarding the creative economy since last two year. Creative economy is an evolving concept based on the potential of creative assets to generate socio-economic growth and development, in a globalized world increasingly dominated by images, sounds, texts and symbols. 

 The succesful of creative economy will be depend on creative human resources that we have currrently, and to make it realize, the government also needs support by other parties, like an enterpreunerships and technocrats. 

Growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at this moment is also will be using as a tools to support the government and realize the creative economy

She said that currently, “more than 50 percent of our peoples age’s is between 0 - 29 year’s old, it means that an ICT will become to the potencial market for our country”.  

Today´s creative industries range from folk art, festivals, music, books, newspapers, paintings, sculptures and performing arts to more technology-intensive subsectors such as the film industry, TV and radio broadcasting, digital animation and video games, and more service-oriented fields such as architectural and advertising services. 

In the end of her speech, Mari Elka Pangestu also speak about the urgently of blog for her, and she has been very interest to consider become to a blogger. (yy

    A great database website that has developed from New England Foundation for the Arts’ research on the creative economy is CultureCount.org.

    It is an interactive data warehouse that documents the exact nature of this “creative economy”.
